Echeveria 'Emerald Raindrops'
Echeveria ‘Emerald Raindrops’ is a cultivar that features the unusual raised leaf bumps also seen in the well-known ‘Raindrops’, but with a greener overall leaf tone. The leaves are thick, rounded towards the tips, and develop a single pronounced bump near the centre of each mature leaf. This characteristic gives the rosette a textured appearance that changes as the plant matures, with bumps becoming more defined over time. The foliage ranges from bright to deep green depending on light exposure, often showing reddish edges during cooler months or under strong sunlight. In late spring to summer, tall stalks rise carrying orange-red flowers, adding a seasonal display above the distinctive foliage.
Care Tips:
- Light – Provide bright, indirect light to full sun to bring out edge colouration and enhance the unique leaf bumping.
- Water – Water thoroughly and allow the soil to dry completely before watering again; reduce watering during cooler weather.
- Humidity – Performs well in low humidity conditions.
- Media – Use a coarse, free-draining cactus and succulent mix to prevent waterlogging.
- Temperature – Best grown at 15–27 °C; protect from frost.
- Fertiliser – Apply a diluted, balanced fertiliser during active growth to support leaf development and flowering.
- Repotting – Repot every 2–3 years or when the plant outgrows its container, refreshing the mix for good drainage.
